In a quaint Victorian Brooklyn house Mortimer’s two sweet and loveable maiden aunts have been perfecting their elderberry wine - it has quite a kick!  Little do their ‘gentlemen callers’ suspect that soon after partaking they will be heading off to the exotic climes of the Panama Canal courtesy of the sisters’ harmless, but totally mad nephew, who is building it in the basement!

Throw into the mix a plastic surgeon, a glamorous minister’s daughter, a policeman who wants to be a playwright and a Boris Karloff look-a-like, and you have all the ingredients for a hugely funny, entertaining and intriguing, mad-cap play in the company of Brooklyn’s most unusual residents – the Brewsters.

That is Arsenic and Old Lace for you. Auditions for the play took place in Loreto Convent Concert Hall in May and practices began in September. There are 14 characters in the play – 3 women and 11 men – and we were lucky so many turned up for auditions. It meant that a really strong cast was chosen. Many of the cast are old faithfuls but we also have a few new members.
